Dressings and dips
Kefir Herb Ranch Dressing
Dill and parsley provide the familiar ranch profile, while fresh garlic gives it bite. Kefir already supplies the cultured tang, so the dressing needs only a little lemon. Plain milk kefir makes a pourable dressing with a clean tang. The same mixture becomes a dip when you use strained kefir instead.

Make it
Method

- Whisk the kefir, salt, and flavor ingredients until evenly combined.
- Rest in the refrigerator for 15 minutes so the flavors settle.
- Taste and adjust salt or acidity. Keep refrigerated and use within 3 days.
Why these flavors work
Kefir already has the acidity a dressing needs. Herbs, spices, nut pastes, or savory seasonings give it direction without covering its fresh taste.
Store it
Keep it covered in the refrigerator and use it within 3 days. Stir before serving.
A substitution that works
Use drinkable milk kefir for a dressing and strained milk kefir for a dip. That change works better than trying to thicken a thin sauce with extra seasoning.
If the texture is wrong
Too sharp? Add a little more plain kefir. Too thin? Chill it first, then whisk in strained kefir one spoonful at a time.
